Thurrock encourages, challenges and supports its school leaders because it understands how central they are to continuing the improvements in Thurrock education that have been seen over the past few years.
Regular networking meetings allow leaders at every level to share concerns and pull together strategies. The meetings also encourage school leaders to not only work together but with the Thurrock council to ensure a cohesive and strong relationship exists between the two.
For those looking to move into leadership positions or to develop their existing role, a number of different courses are offered through Thurrock Teaching School partnerships to help ambitious teachers take the step into leadership. These include:
• Thurrock Teaching Schools have developed a partnership with the highly respected Institute of Education to deliver a range of bespoke Thurrock leadership programmes. Programmes are available for existing and aspiring leaders in Thurrock schools, including NQT +1, Early Leadership, Developing Middle Leaders, and Widening Leadership for more experienced colleagues.
• National Professional Qualification are also offered with the option of Middle Leadership (NPQML), senior leadership (NPQSL) and headship (NPQH). The NPQML and NPQSL begin in Autumn and Spring.
• Thurrock teachers can also benefit from a bespoke Thurrock MA Education led by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and hosted by Thurrock Teaching School Alliance, based in Grays. Potential candidates can apply at different points in the year and may benefit from a subsidy. Please contact TTSA at email@example.com for more details.
