There are two main Teaching School Partnerships in Thurrock. Read on to find out more about each one and what opportunities they offer:
Thurrock Teaching School Alliance
Thurrock Teaching School Alliance brings together schools across Thurrock to provide active and high quality training, ITT and school to school support, for all schools within and beyond the Thurrock borders. Its strategic partners include schools from all phases, and it has a broad offer.
TTSA works closely with other TSAs in Thurrock and regularly organises collaborative programmes for schools. It works in partnership with other Teaching Schools in Southend and Essex, as well as throughout the wider East of England region, to ensure that they offer the highest quality provision for the very best value. Colleagues across all alliances have established networks of learning and sharing that are invaluable.
The TTSA facilitates a wide range of nationally recognised professional learning programmes, using outstanding practitioners from local schools. In partnership with the Thurrock TSAs, teachers working in Thurrock schools have access to many CPD programmes, and some of the most exciting include a bespoke Thurrock MA with ARU, and a suite of leadership programmes with the world-renowned Institute of Education, suitable for RQTs through to senior leaders.
TTSA also provides opportunities for colleagues for joint practice development, for networking and for wider research and development in education. Recent projects have included work with the ROH and ARU, and have had an impact on hundreds of pupils.

Thurrock Primary Teaching School Alliance (TPTSA)
Thurrock Primary Teaching School Alliance has a commitment to achieving excellence in learning, teaching and school leadership and aim to appoint the highest calibre of teachers in our schools who:
– are innovative in the teaching practices they adopt.
– seek to collaborate and support each other through strong partnerships.
– engage in the intelligent use of research and development of pedagogy.
The Alliance continues to stay abreast of national and international educational research to inform our approach. They aim to inspire our teachers to be advocates of life- long learning who become outstanding practitioners, colleagues, managers and leaders in our schools, equipped to adapt to the needs of learners and schools of the future.
The Alliance aim to provide a clear framework for career development to ensure high quality, relevant training that meets the needs of teaching staff at different stages of their careers, from career entry to headship in its increasingly various forms.
Thurrock Primary Teaching School Alliance members have a shared moral purpose; to work together to improve the learning and achievement of all the young people in their schools and to support other schools in the region to do the same.
This will be achieved by pursuing excellence in teaching and learning across Thurrock and the surrounding area by offering training, support, research and development that is “by schools for schools”.
They firmly believe that they are ‘stronger together’ and that partnership and collaboration between practicing teachers in different schools is the only way to continually develop and improve teaching and learning for the benefit of students, parents and the communities in which we work.
