The Eco-Schools Green Flag, part of the Keep Britain Tidy charity, is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning. Dilkes Academy has worked its way through the seven steps which include an action plan, informing and involving the whole school and wider community, creating an Eco-code and others.
Rhys Latham, Headteacher at Dilkes Academy said: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff for all their efforts this past year and are so pleased to have received this award!
“We have worked extremely hard, focusing mainly on trying to reduce our energy usage as well as recycling and minimising waste where possible. It is essential we are teaching the children just how meaningful these changes are towards improving the environment and local community whilst also positively impacting their own lives.”
