  1. Lakeside Karting

Thurrock is home to the longest and fastest go-karting track in Essex for adults, children and families, and the circuit is 900m long and 6m wide. The track has an exciting mix of flat-out straights, flowing corners, 2 hairpin bends, and the thrilling ‘Devil’s Drop’.

  1. Chafford Gorges Nature Park

Chafford Gorges Nature Park has 200 acres of green space, with the opportunity for bird watching, walks through nature, and stunning countryside views. The nature park offers the perfect spot for a nice summer picnic with all the family, or a visit to the gift shop where you can buy a range of hot and cold refreshments, cakes and snacks.

Their visitor centre organises a regular programme of events and activities for adults and families, with fourteen groups across the county that organise a programme of walks and talks.

  1. Pirate Cove Adventure Park

Pirate Cove Adventure Park is a great day out for the entire family, with putter sizes for everyone. The park has two 18-hole mini golf courses, both boasting a pirate theme, atmospheric features and novelty landscaping.

The Adventure Park also has aerial assault course set high up in the rigging of a pirate ship.  Plus family sized pirate pedalos to cruise around the lake with and remote controlled galleons to race with inland, and remote control jeep racing too.

Grays Beach Riverside Park is a fantastic place to visit at any time of the year, and it gets even better in summer.

During the summer months there’s a whole treasure trove of activities, competitions and special events organised to keep kids entertained all summer long. Activities include: Great play equipment like their giant sand pit, adventure trail, aerial slide and the famous Grays Beach play galleon suitable for all age ranges, including areas perfect for a picnic.

  1. Stubbers Adventure Centre

Stubbers Adventure Centre offers a wide range of activites to keep you entertained this summer, ranging from individual activities to whole days and courses, such as: All Terrain Boarding, Argocarts, Rifle Shooting, Kayaking and much more.

New to Stubbers Adventure Centre is Family Laser Tag, which involves two and a half hours of zero contact combat games played with infra-red equipment in an atmospheric arena. This activity is discounted for families on alternate weekends from April to September!

Plus, during the school holidays there are multi activity sessions for 7 to 16 year olds, with a flexible program of group activities.

  1. Thurrock Museum

At Thurrock Museum you can find more than 250,000 years of Thurrock’s past in display cases with more than 1,500 objects. The museum welcomes families to explore the history of Thurrock through its extensive exhibits and artefacts with a rich variety of items on show at a nice height for school aged kids. Every summer the museum also run family heritage rambles outside, ideal for exploring the vicinity.
You can discover the mammoths from Aveley, the earliest known Thurrock coins dating to 75BC, prehistoric flint tools, Roman pottery, Saxon artefacts, medieval finds from Grays, and interesting objects all the way up to the last century.

The surrounding area is also worth exploring with 239 listed buildings and 15 buildings of acknowledged national importance within the area of the museum.

  1. AMF Bowling Gravesend

With 24 bowling lanes and a fun-filled amusement arcade for afters, AMF Bowling offers a fun day out for all the family – with a touch of healthy competition. Kids can use light balls (the XS is just 6lb), roller ramps and gutter guards to enable everyone to get involved.
